The Bush Revolution – or is it just a phase?
Now, I know today's the third anniversary of the day that changed our country forever, but to be honest – what with the Bush campaign going back and blaming it on Iraq, which is absolute horse manure – I'd rather concern myself this morning with the fact that in this month's issue of Penthouse – there are two – count 'em, two – women – with full growth. Is this this just a seasonal trend or has the clean-shaven look going the way of the squares, just when we've come to like the sensation of sleekness down south, just when we've come to enjoy the special grooming ritual? And I do mean ritual...
Anyway, the old man and I had talked about going for a drive today, maybe venturing down to the Pate Museum, but he's still back in his room, playing his game, looking at his porn and loading songs into the iPod, which is fine with me, really. We both agreed it was already too hot to venture outside, although I really do need to get out and buy some new underwear, because every pair I have is ripped and torn to shreds. My mother used to get so pissed off at me for having ratty underwear; I really should do a better job of honoring her memory. But I do wish I had a pair of those Queen's Jubilee knickers that I saw Ari Up of the Slits wearing in that famous photograph, though.
Saturday Songfest with Danny…
"Listen To Me" - Baby Huey. From some "Uncut" CD, produced by Curtis Mayfield. In my dreams, Angie Davis shakes her ass to this one.
"Big Dwarf Rodeo" and "'D' For Dangerous" - Reverend Horton Heat. This is totally striking a chord this morning...and whaddya know, the Rev is playing every Wednesday night through either this month or October at the All Good Cafe down in Deep Ellum, with the Hammond B-3 organ player from Asleep at the Wheel, plus a drummer. I'd actually like to check that out, if only I could be bothered to leave the house.
"The In-Crowd" - Ramsey Lewis Trio. Shake yer booty. From 1965.
"Soulful Strut" - Young-Holt Unlimited. This is from the same album as the Ramsey Lewis track, an ultra-cheesy compilation CD I ordered off Amazon eons ago, called "Instrumentals From Back In Da Day." It even has Paul Hardcastle's "Rain Forest" (eek) and some other bad porno-muzak sounding song, like something you'd hear in "Showgirls." But there are many other treasures, too. You'll recognize this one right off the bat. Miss Dusty Springfield put words to it for "Am I The Same Girl?"
