A memoir course in the post-James Frey era?

You bet your boots.

My gal pal from The Cork and Demon, the wonderfully inimitable and beautimous Taj, called me a couple of weeks ago to present me with my birthday gift - a memoir-writing class offered by the Writers' League of Texas, taught by Austin novelist, ex-Skunk and former Glenn Mitchell guest Jesse Sublett. My heart flew right into my chest when she asked if I'd be interested.

I believe my response was, "Does the Pope shit in the woods?"

No doubt this'll come up in class tomorrow, but I'm looking forward to hearing what Mr. Sublett has to say about the James Frey debacle, along with the writing exercises and any guidance he might have about blurring of lines between fiction and fact. Being more at ease with fiction myself, this is sure to be an eye-opener.

Stay tuned for more...
